CHARIAD

Chariad's Season Highlights to Date June 2009

Summerset
June 7th

CHARIAD won the Corinthian Yacht Club Summerset Regatta on Sunday. I am lost for words to describe magnitude of the success of the CHARIAD crew. CHARIAD not only won its class (Class B) but also beat all of the Class A boats across the finish line except one – a Farr 40 that finished shortly before we did. The Class A boats started about seven minutes before we started. CHARIAD crew experienced a wonderful sailing day with lots of changes and interesting challenges. We felt good about how well we sailed the boat and  had an exhilarating sailing day.

Patton
Bowl
June13th

CHARIAD finished 1st and 4th in the two races for an overall finish of 3rd. The conditions were good for the boat in both races, but we were working to get focused on boat speed targets and heel angle targets and it took time to get that working smoothly. All rigging issues were correctly set for the second race, in which we sailed the lifted side of the small wind shifts almost perfectly. That was really the difference in the race.

Hospice
Regatta
June 21st

The mighty CHARIAD and its valiant crew won the Hospice Regatta on Sunday in very challenging conditions. We again beat all of the Class A boats and were the first boat to finish the race. Most of the boats that registered for the regatta did not venture out for the race. But if you want to play in the big leagues, you need to be able to sail in all conditions! We have now won in very light conditions and in very heavy conditions. There was so much wind before the start that we did not want to put the sails up if we were not going to actually race.
